Cavity Wall

What Is It?

If your house has poor insulation qualities and was built as cavity wall construction, our grant aided injected cavity wall bead system will be an ideal cost effective way for you to bring your house up to today's insulation standards.

We use the 27 plus graphite silver bead injected cavity wall bead to insulate your home. This bead is both suited for a householder who wished to insulate an empty cavity or upgrade their existing board insulation in the cavity

Is My House Suited?

  • Cavity wall bead system does not suit all house construction types. If your home was built with solid wall or concrete cavity blocks this system cannot be installed in your house. However our External Insulated Render System can be used in these situations
  • If you are unsure as to the exact construction of your home please contact us for a free Boroscopic Survey that will enable us to ascertain what system suits your home best home
  • The procedure is relatively simple in that we drill a number of 10mm holes in the external wall of your house in through which the insulation is pumped at high pressure
  • The great advantage of our Cavity Wallbead is that is so small that it flows almost like a liquid in your cavity ensuring that it finds its way into the tiniest space in your cavity. Another benefit of this free flowing material we use is that fewer holes need to be drilled in the external wall of your house

Faqs

1. Will the locations of the holes be obvious after the works are complete

Because we use the latest system on the market, the holes we require to drill are 10mm diameter and these can be drilled in the mortar joints between the brickwork on your house and filled afterwards so they are not noticeable

2. Does it make a mess

No the holes are drilled extrernally which in itself creates a small amount of dust, other than that it is an extremely clean solution

3. How long does it take

A typical house can be completed in one working day

4. Could cavity wall insulation cause dampness in my house

Extensive tests have shown that our Graphite Silver Bead cavity wall insulation does not allow water to pass across the cavity. Before installing the insulation, the empty wall cavities are inspected for obstructions with a special tool called a boroscope. Any obstructions are noted and cleared by the installers before the insulation is injected.

5. If my house was built with a cavity surely it is there for a reason

The purpose of te cavity is to prevent rain that soaks into the outside brickwork from crossing to the inside of the wall. The cavity interrupts any water that soaks through the brickwork and drains it to the bottom of the wall where it drains to the outside. Injecting mineral wool insulation into the cavity still allows water to drain to the bottom of the wall.

Our Graphite Silver Bead cavity wall insulation contains a water repellent and so does not absorb water. Extensive tests have shown that Knauf Supafil cavity wall insulation does not cause water to pass across the cavity.

6. My house is semi‐detached/terraced and my neighbour(s) doesn't want cavity wall insulation. Can you still insulate my walls?

Yes, your house can still be insulated. The installer will need to form a hole at the top and bottom of the wall to insert a spacer at the junction between the two houses. This prevents insulation being blown into the cavity of your neighbour's house.

7. How do I apply for a grant
